Colorado Health Service Corps Futures Program

Welcome to the CHSC Futures Program: Fostering the Next Generation of Diverse Health Care Professionals

The CHSC Futures Program is dedicated to advancing health equity for underserved Coloradans by fostering a diverse* and inclusive health care workforce. This program supports students from diverse backgrounds in their educational journeys by offering mentorship, career-building opportunities, and potential financial support.

  • Are you a high school or college student looking to map out your career in health care?

  • Are you a graduate student in a health care program trying to decide where to start your career?

  • Have you considered returning to school to pursue a health care degree and need help getting there?

No matter where you are in your educational journey, we encourage you to learn more about how the CHSC Futures Program can help you achieve your dream of becoming a health care clinician in Colorado. Pair with a mentor in your field of interest who has participated in the CHSC loan repayment program to gain valuable, first-hand insight into the experience of working with CHSC. Recruitment participants through fall 2025.

*CDPHE’s Prevention Services Division defines diversity as a description of differences usually based on identities such as race, gender, sexual orientation, class, or ability, etc. Diversity does not equal equity and does not always occur intentionally.

How it Works

Participants in the mentorship opportunity of the Pre-Application Phase will be matched with a former CHSC loan repayment recipient based on their common interests, backgrounds, academics, and/or professional aspirations. To get started, participants and mentors register and complete an online survey to convey their interests and experiences.

[Please note that we strive to carefully match mentors based on participants' career interests and other important factors and identifying the right mentor for each participant may take some time. We appreciate your patience as we work to ensure the best possible pairing. During this time, we encourage you to continue completing the e-learning courses of the Pre-Application Phase, and reach out to alyssa.collado@state.co.us for any additional support.]

Financial Support That Matters

After completing the Pre-Application Phase, eligible participants can apply for the CHSC Futures Program. This contract supports future clinicians in achieving their educational goals while they commit to providing care for three years of service at CHSC-approved sites.

For selected participants, the program offers up to $120,000 in student loan repayment, depending on the discipline, after graduation and securing qualified employment at an approved safety-net employer. This support enables future health care clinicians to focus on their mission while easing the financial burden of their education.
